Finished cushion cover for my mums birthday present :-)

This is soo clever!

Progress with my knitted cushion cover for my mums bday present.

Look back to my 2nd year final project research drawings.
Mixed media on transparent paper and hand embrodiery.

Finally finished my tee shirt dress, I discharged the yellow design which worked very well on the orange dye but not so much on the turquoise block (because it contained blue dyestuff which doesnt discharge well).
Its been quite a learning experience, handling silk, the construction of the dress was, although a simple pattern, but the aesthetic of fabric proved it to be somewhat a challenge to work with!
This however, has built my confidence in garment construction and dying techniques, so it wasn’t all so bad :-)

Block printing my final silk, a whole 2 1/2 metres of it! Took me half an hour to suck it up and get on with it!

Dying silk samples to get exact colours. VERY time consuming! But defintely built my confidence on colour mixing and dying and love how well the silk takes to the dyes.

Painting day with potential designs, developing dress fronts and backs and finally choosing my final outcome to work with.
I love how i work boldly with colours, need to experiment this onto the silk fabric that I’ll be making my tee shirt dress out of!

Fashion/life drawing, based on inspiration of artist/illustrator Aitor Throup.
His drawings are quite frankly quite dark and somewhat distrubing but his style is great and loved his line drawings and colourings.
I used fine liner, watercolour and tipex pen to produce my drawings.
